Max Hecker (second row, furthest right) was recently named the Northern California PGA (NCPGA) Section’s first PGA WORKS Fellow. In this role, Hecker works on the NCPGA Foundation’s breadth of charitable golf programs including PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) programming, the NCPGA Foundation’s military pillar, which is the flagship military program of PGA REACH. Hecker assists with the administration of PGA HOPE Clinics and Play Days, as well PGA Jr League Golf and Drive, Chip & Putt programming, event coordination for fundraisers, and marketing & communications to promote all NCPGA Foundation activities. Hecker’s appointment made him one of 13 individuals nationwide currently serving in a PGA WORKS Fellowship in 2020. Focused on engaging a diverse demographic of participants—with consideration to gender, age, race, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, religion and Veteran status—the PGA WORKS Fellowship is designed to establish a strong bench of talent prepared to ascend into key employment positions within the business of golf.

Recently, Hecker took part in a panel at the 2020 PGA Merchandise Show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, which featured each of this year’s PGA WORKS fellows where they discussed sustaining an inclusive workforce. The panel also included Bill Whaley, PGA – National Director of Golf, PGA Tour Properties and Dennis Harrington, PGA - National Director of Golf Instruction, Top Golf. The panel was moderated by Rachel Mabee - PGA WORKS Program Specialist.
