Five people escaped safely after a neighbor alerted them that a fire was burning outside their southeast Vacaville home early this morning, a battalion chief said.

The small blaze, which was reported at 3:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Millbrook Court, was contained to an exterior corner of the one-story, single-family home, Vacaville fire acting Battalion Chief Phil Sanner said.

It was controlled at 3:36 a.m., and damage is estimated at $25,000, Sanner said. There was some heat and smoke damage to the home's interior, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
