Driver Hit, Killed On I-80 Freeway Ramp Identified As Texas Man
A man who got out of his car after a crash and was fatally hit as he ran toward the shoulder was identified as a 29-year-old from Texas.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A Texas man was killed Wednesday night when he left his vehicle after a collision near Fairfield and was struck by another vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said. The Solano County coroner's office identified him as Tyler Mazac, 29, of Hockley, Texas. He died at 9:37 p.m.
Mazac was driving a 2019 Chrysler when he collided with a 2020 Kia Forte around 9:10 p.m. on the two-lane ramp from westbound state Highway 12 to westbound Interstate Highway 80, CHP Officer Miguel Camarena said.
Mazac got out of his disabled Chrysler and was running toward the right shoulder when he was struck by a blue Mazda CX-9 around 9:22 p.m., Camarena said.

The Mazda's driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have played a part in the collision.
