'Spare The Air' Issued Today For Yolo, Solano
Smoke from California fires adding to poor air quality. Residents are asked to reduce driving. [Breaking]

YOLO and SOLANO COUNTIES, CA – A Spare The Air Day has been called today -- Friday -- for the area by Yolo-Solano Air Quality district.
The agency asks residents to drive less to help protect the air.
Light winds and smoke from California wildfires combined with motor vehicle exhaust are expected to produce air pollution that can be especially unhealthy for small children, seniors, and people with respiratory
and heart conditions, according to air-quality agencies in the Bay Area.

Air quality officials issue a Spare the Air Alert when air pollution is expected to reach an unhealthy level.
The level of air pollution expected can cause throat irritation, congestion, chest pain, trigger asthma, inflame the lining of the lungs and worsen bronchitis and emphysema.
