In a KCRA news interview, Dylan Scott, brother of the suspect, says although he was shocked by what his brother did, “he has always done a lot of bad stuff.”
He also told KCRA that he knows "without a doubt" that his brother was under the influence of drugs at the time.
Officer Ericson remains in critical, but stable, condition as of the latest CHP reports, and has offered this statement from his family:
"We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support in light of this horrible attack. The amount of support we have received has been overwhelming and very much appreciated. Thank you all for your compassion and love that you have expressed for Mike. All of the support makes a time like this easier and we know it will help Mike heal faster and make a full recovery. Thank you."
Scott is reportedly charged with attempted murder, felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a stolen property and various other charges and is held at the Sacramento County Jail.
