Vacaville to Remove All Roadside Memorials

Nearly a dozen memorials have been posted with a 30-day notice.

VACAVILLE, CA- The City of Vacaville staff has begun posting 30-day removal notices on roadside memorials throughout Vacaville.

At least 10 memorials are in place around Vacaville, according to a press release from city PIO Mark Mazzaferro, most in memory of a loved one who died at or near the site of the memorial.

The first notices were posted Monday, May 2. If the memorials are not removed, city staff will remove the memorials 30 days after the notice has been posted. Items removed from the memorials will be taken to the city’s corporation yard on Allison Drive.

The city will be accepting requests for a memorial sign that can be purchased and placed at or near the location for up to a year. Upon approval of the request, the city will order and install the sign. The costs for signs has not been determined, however, they are expected to be around $100.

Information on obtaining a memorial sign will be posted on the city website in the future, says the release.
