CALIFORNIA – Celebrating Halloween can get hectic for families, particularly when it falls mid-week, as it does this year on Wednesday, Oct. 31. So keep it easy, make it fun and maybe even save some cash. No tricks, all treats here with Patch's annual guide to Halloween freebies and deals from restaurants throughout California.

Applebee's: From Oct. 29-31, get two free kids’ meals with the purchase of each adult entrée at restaurants throughout California. See list of locations here, call to confirm & mention offer when ordering. ALSO: $1 'ZOMBIE' Drink All Month. For just a buck, you can order an electric-blue mixture of rum, pineapple, passion fruit, cherry and lime, topped with a gummy brain.

Blimpie Sub Shop: Throwing a party at home? Use this printable at participating locations to get $10 off a $50 catering order or $5 off a $25 catering order. There are not many Blimpies in California, but there are some. Find them here.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.: Kids eat free on Halloween with purchase of an adult entrée. Details and locations here.
Burger King: Ask your nearest location if it’s serving the Frozen Fanta Scary Black Cherry. It’s Burger King’s spin on a slushie made with Fanta Black Cherry. And for a limited time at participating locales, is the Nightmare King Sandwich - a beef patty, white meat crispy chicken, bacon, cheese, mayo and onions — served on a green bun.
Chili’s: The $5 Great Pumpkin ‘Rita combines Monin Pumpkin Spice Syrup, Lunazul Silver Tequila, Triple Sec and a splash of Captain Morgan. Get it through October. Cheers!
Chipotle: Get a $4 Boorito - a burrito, bowl, salad or order of tacos for $4 - by showing up to Chipotle in a Halloween costume between 3 p.m. and close. See full promo details. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit: On Oct. 31, guests can purchase a Family Pack with $5 off at participating locations in-store. IHOP: Scary Face Pancakes are back! Yay! All kids 12 and under get a free Scary Face Pancake between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Oct. 31. One pancake per child. Dine-in customers only.

Joe’s Crab Shack: Kids eat free on Halloween. Costumes not required, but welcome. Each free kid’s meal requires purchase of adult entree. Coupon here and can be in print or via mobile. McDonald’s: The chain is running a Halloween-themed daily sweepstakes called Trick. Treat. Win! Find game pieces on select McDonald’s packaging and use the code on the back to determine if you’re a winner. Prizes include free food, VIP experiences and more.
Mickey's Deli: Now this is neither free nor discounted, but deserves a mention: Halloween Special 'Spicy Spooky Cheeto Pizza' in Hermosa Beach. P.S. Don't be alarmed by the blackened crust.
Morton’s the Steakhouse: Get a special Halloween three-course meal on Oct. 30 and 31 for $36. Includes a starter, side, entree and dessert. See the full menu. Morton's are in Anaheim, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Loss Angeles (Downtown), Palm Desert, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Ana and Woodland Hills.
Papa John’s: The jack-o’-lantern pizza is back. Shaped like a pumpkin, decorated to look like a jack-o’-lantern, the pizza costs $11 and is available until Oct. 31. To order, use the code JACKOLANTERN on Papa John’s website. Details and other scary meal-deals here.
