Vacaville PD Identifies Son Accused Of Stabbing Mother To Death

A dispatcher received a 911 open line call at 7 a.m. Thursday and heard a woman screaming in the background, police said.

VACAVILLE, CA — Vacaville police have identified Shane Riley, 21, as the man suspected of fatally stabbing his 59-year-old mother in their Vacaville home Thursday morning. Riley was booked in the Solano County Jail for homicide, and police posted his booking photo on Facebook.

Police dispatchers who received a 911 open line call around 7 a.m. Thursday heard a woman screaming in the background. They found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times, Lt. Mark Donaldson said.

Riley was identified as the victim's son and he was taken into custody. The victim's husband who also lives in the home was out of the country on business, Donaldson said.

Police have received four or five calls involving verbal arguments at the home in the 900 block of Rio Grande Drive over the past three years, Donaldson said.

Police have not yet identified the victim.
