Brush Fire Triggers Lockdown At Eagle Rock Junior High

A small brush fire is burning in Eagle Rock, but light wind is aiding firefighters in their efforts.

EAGLE ROCK, CA — Los Angeles firefighters are battling a slow-moving brush fire in Eagle Rock that forced students at a nearby school to shelter in place.

The 1.5-acre blaze broke out just before 2 p.m. in the 1800 block of West Yosemite Drive. Despite the Santa Ana wind storm, local gusts remain light, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange. The light gusts are helping to keep the brush fire slow-moving giving crews a chance to get the upper hand.

The fire is near Eagle Rock Junior/Senior High School.
