Eagle Rock Lumber To Close It's Doors After 107 Years In L.A.
Eagle Rock Lumber, which has been in business in northeast Los Angeles for over a century, closes for good on Oct. 11.
EAGLE ROCK, LOS ANGELES -- One of the oldest businesses in northeast L.A. is going out of business. Eagle Rock Lumber and Hardware, which first opened in 1912, is expected to close its doors for good at the end of the week.
The family-owned business, which is located on the 2200 block of Fair Park Avenue and has sold lumber, hardware for over a century, is shutting down on Oct. 11, according to reports in the Boulevard Sentinel and The Eastsider.
“It’s just time,” owner Kevin Strauch, 78, told the Sentinel in explaining the closure, adding that another factor was that worsening homelessness in the area has had adverse impacts on customer experience and other aspects of running the store.
