National Night Out With the LAPD in Eagle Rock

National Night Out, celebrated by more than 37 million people in 15,000 communities across the United States, Canada and U.S. military bases worldwide, will be marking the 30th anniversary Tuesday of police-community partnerships, crime prevention activities and neighborhood solidarity. Unlike last year, there will be two National Night Out venues in Eagle Rock, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Besides the usual 2626 Colorado Blvd. location in the upper parking lot of Target at Eagle Rock Plaza, a celebration will also be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, located on 2322 Merton Ave. Sponsored by Target, the office of Councilmember José Huizar, Sir Michael’s Party Rentals and the Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Community station, National Night Out is aimed at increasing public awareness about crime and drug prevention as well as generating support for local anticrime initiatives, including by strengthening police-community partnerships.

3. Center for the Arts Summer Art Camp

Week nine of the popular Summer Art Camp is underway for children aged 6-12 years at the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock. Held daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the camp explores visual art, art history, craft, yoga, dance, performance, cooking, fort-building, ceramics, gardening, sculpture, textiles, and play-writing.
