Rubbish Fire Spreads To Grass Along Ventura (134) Freeway
The Eagle Rock blaze charred about a quarter-acre before firefighters doused it Thursday morning.

EAGLE ROCK, CA — What began as a rubbish fire near the Ventura (134) Freeway in Eagle Rock spread to nearby grass, charring about a quarter-acre before firefighters doused it, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The blaze was reported at 6:21 a.m, fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The department dispatched 17 firefighters to the scene and knocked down the flames in about 12 minutes, she said.

Firefighters would remain at the scene temporarily to put out any hotspots that might flare up, she added.
No injuries were reported.
