National Night Out, celebrated by more than 15,000 communities across the United States, Canada and U.S. military bases worldwide, will be marking its 30th anniversary Tuesday. Unlike last year, there will be two National Night Out venues in Eagle Rock, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Besides the usual 2626 Colorado Blvd. location in the upper parking lot of Target at Eagle Rock Plaza, a celebration will also be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, located on 2322 Merton Ave. Sponsored by the office of Councilmember José Huizar, Sir Michael’s Party Rentals and the Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Community station, among others, National Night Out is aimed at increasing public awareness about crime and drug prevention as well as generating support for local anticrime initiatives, including by strengthening police-community partnerships.
