World's Top Track Stars Race In Eagle Rock At USA Track And Field Distance Classic

Today's top athletes in track and field are competing at the USA Track and Field Distance Classic in Eagle Rock.

EAGLE ROCK, CA — Four-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Mo Farah of Britain is scheduled to race American gold medalist Matt Centrowitz in the 1,500 meters Thursday in the USA Track and Field Distance Classic at Occidental College.

The Somalia-born Farah won the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. He received his knighthood as part of the 2017 New Year's Honours.

Centrowitz won the 1,500 meters at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, the first American to win the "Metric Mile" at the Olympics since 1908.

American Jenny Simpson, the bronze medalist in the women's 1,500 in the 2016 Olympics, is set to race in the 800 in a field including two fellow Olympians, Brenda Martinez of the U.S. and Lynsey Sharp of Britain.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and USATF members.

The meet will be livestreamed by NBC Sports Gold as part of its $69.99 "Track and Field Pass" package, which includes more than 20 major track and field events and marathons through December.
