East Palo Alto Launches Parking Program for People Living in RVs
The City of East Palo Alto has launched a one-year pilot program that designates space for up to 20 local RV dwellers to park overnight.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA -- Seeking to deal with the contentious issue of people who live in recreational vehicles parking on the streets, the City of East Palo Alto has launched a one-year pilot program that designates space for up to 20 local RVs to park overnight.
Also under the program, those parking in the designated are receive access to portable showers, restrooms and laundry services.
The facility, located at 1798 Bay Road, opened May 1. It is run and funded in part by Project WeHope, a nonprofit that provides shelter and other services to East Palo Alto's homeless. About two-thirds of the funding is coming from the city's general fund and from a business-license tax.
