East Palo Alto Man Arrested On Weapons, Evasion, Drug Charges

Police: East Palo Alto's Rodolfo Solis-Azeta was arrested with a loaded assault rifle & drugs after fleeing a scene where shots were fired.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA -- A local man was arrested after a car chase Wednesday following a report of shots being fired in the street, police say.

Officers had responded to a report of several gunshots fired in the street when a witness told the officers that he'd observed the shooting and provided officers with a description of the suspect vehicle.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver failed to stop and was chased by officers. While the suspect vehicle was being chased, officers lost sight of it, and surrounding police agencies were alerted with the details of the pursuit, suspect vehicle, and shooting.

California Highway Patrol Officers located the suspect vehicle and detained the sole occupant, identified as East Palo Alto resident Rodolfo Solis-Azeta. East Palo Alto Officers responded to the scene and took custody of Solis-Azeta. A loaded assault rifle was located in plain view along with drugs and drug paraphernalia. Solis-Azeta was arrested and transported to San Mateo County Jail on several weapons and drug charges, as well as evading police.
