Pet Searching? East Palo Alto Residents Can 'Name Your Own Adoption Fee' In Clear the Shelters Event

Peninsula Humane Society officials say they'll have kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, bunnies, small animals, birds, reptiles and more.

BURLINGAME, CA — The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA) is partnering with NBC Bay Area and Telemundo to host the third annual pet adoption drive known as Clear the Shelters. The pet adoption drive will take place on Saturday, August 19.

“We are excited to participate in this nationwide pet adoption initiative again,” said PHS/SPCA Communications Manager Buffy Martin Tarbox. “We are offering ‘name your own adoption fee’ for any of the animals at our shelter available for adoption. This reduced fee does not mean we will be handing out animals and all of our usual adoption procedures which are designed to ensure the match is both good for the humans and the animals will remain in place.”

As a nod to the Summer of Love anniversary, PHS/SPCA is hosting a Summer of Love theme during the Clear the Shelters event including groovy activities and far-out treats.
