SamTrans Recruiting East Palo Alto Youth For Ambassador Program

High school and college students in San Mateo County are encouraged to apply for the program to help spread the word about bus travel.

The San Mateo County Transit District is recruiting youth ambassadors to spread the word among their peers about SamTrans bus lines as an option for getting to and from school.

There are 48 routes with stops timed to coincide with class bells so kids can get to and from school safely and on time.

SamTrans officials are sending staff to schools throughout the county on registration day to provide transit information to families and help with trip planning.

Youth riders are a priority for the district, as studies show that when people use public transit as children, they're more likely to do so as adults, according to SamTrans.

High school and college students in San Mateo County who are interested in becoming youth ambassadors can apply online at www.samtrans.com/youthambassadors. The application deadline is Aug. 31.
