SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A 66-year-old man was arrested after being accused of attacking multiple drivers using his truck and hitting them with his cane in a series of attacks in Palo Alto Friday evening.

Police arrested Kenneth Edward Greene, of Valley Springs, who was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges including Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery and Elder Abuse.

Police received a report Friday around 5:10 p.m. of a road rage incident near the intersection of High Street and Hamilton Avenue. According to an investigation, a man in his twenties was driving south on High Street when he noticed a man in a Ford truck — later determined to be Greene — driving aggressively behind him.

According to police, Greene then drove past the other man, stopped his truck across both lanes of traffic to block the man, got out of his truck and began hitting the man's car with his hood. When the man tried to exit his car, Greene began striking him in the face with his cane through the driver's side window. Greene then fled south on High Street, according to police.

At 5:30 p.m., police received another report of a vehicle collision on the 700 block of San AntonioRoad with a truck that matched the description of Greene's from the prior incident. After arriving, police say they learned that a suspect had intentionally collided with another car being driven by a woman in her sixties.

Police said the suspect rammed his truck into the woman's car multiple times, then exited his truck and tried to hit the woman with a cane. He then pried the woman's keys from her hands, threw them on the street and brought them to his truck, according to police.

Police booked Greene on two felony counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Vandalism, Robbery (stemming from the woman's keys), Elder Abuse (stemming from the woman's age), and Hate Crime (based on statements Greene made to police suggesting his attack on the man was motivated by his perception of the man's sexual orientation).
