4 Girls Hurt In School Bus Crash In Elysian Park

Four students were hospitalized after a school bus struck a power pole in the Elysian Park area.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Four girls were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a school bus crashed into a power pole in the Elysian Park area. Brake failure may have been a factor in the crash, according to investigators.

The crash happened just before the start of school at about 7:30 a.m. in the 500 block of West Solano Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. In all, there were nine children on the bus at the time of the crash. The four injured girls were all roughly 12-years-old.

The circumstances of the crash were under investigation, although the driver reported experiencing brake failure, according to broadcast reports.

The bus was a charter -- not an LAUSD vehicle.
