Brush Fire Scorches 1 Acre Near Elysian Park

Park​Firefighters battled a slow-moving brush fire in the Elysian Park area Wednesday afternoon.

ELYSIAN PARK, CA — ParkFirefighters battled a slow-moving brush fire in the Elysian Park area Wednesday afternoon.

By 4:30 p.m., the blaze had scorched one acre in the 4 00 block of North Avenue 19 in Lincoln Heights near Elysian Park, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said. Firefighters quickly had the blaze doused. According to Prange, "81 firefighters worked quickly to deploy progressive hose lays up both flanks to contain the 1-acre fire in less than 30 minutes. Firefighters will remain on scene to chase down any remaining hot spots within the burn area."

There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the blaze was unknown.
