Couple By Hit And Run Driver On Sunset Boulevard
A woman was killed, and a man is in critical condition after they were struck by a hit and run driver in Echo Park

ECHO PARK, CA — A hit and run driver struck a couple in Echo Park early Monday morning, killing the woman and critically injuring the man, according to authorities. Authorities are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver.
The pair was struck just before 1 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard at White Knoll Drive, said Sgt. J. Garcia of the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division. The couple was dragged 50 feet by the driver, who briefly stopped before fleeing without rendering aid, according to police. They were rushed to a nearby hospital. The woman, 58-year-old Morena Del Carmen Alvarado-Lopez, later died, and the man she was with is in critical condition, according to the LAPD.

The man and woman were not in a crosswalk when they were struck, Garcia said.

The hit and run driver was behind the wheel of a dark sedan.
The vehicle was described as dark, Garcia said. Surveillance video on broadcast media showed a dark sedan striking the couple.
