Dodgers Broadcaster Charley Steiner To Scale Back Next Season

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Charley Steiner will call fewer games in 2019, the team announced Monday.

The Dodgers agreed to a contract extension through the 2021 season with Steiner, a Dodger broadcaster since 2005.

"Father Time, Mother Nature and the road have never lost a battle," Steiner said. "I'm just trying to keep pace with those three, and hopefully getting to call the final out of the Dodgers next championship."

The Dodgers also announced Monday the hiring of Boston Red Sox broadcaster Tim Neverett, who will both call games on KLAC-AM (570) when Steiner is absent and on SportsNet LA during Joe Davis' national assignments.

Neverett was the Red Sox radio play-by-play broadcaster the past three seasons following a seven-year stint as a radio and television play-by-play broadcaster for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Before joining the Pirates, Neverett spent four years working for the regional sports network FSN Rocky Mountain, including as a studio host for Colorado Rockies games during the 2008 season. He also served the network as a play-by-play announcer for Rockies games, college football, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, arena football and track and field.
