Dodgers Sign Dave Roberts To 4 More Years

The new deal with the manager who, took the Dodgers to back-to-back World Series, runs through 2022.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Dodgers announced Monday they have agreed to a four-year contract with manager Dave Roberts.

Roberts, 46, has been managing the team since 2016 and has taken the squad to the playoffs in each of his three seasons, including back-to-back World Series appearances, although they lost both times. He was the National League's Manager of the Year in 2016.

"Keeping Doc as our leader on the field was a top priority this offseason," Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said in a statement. "And now that we've accomplished that, we are excited to collectively shift all of our focus to doing all we can to bring a world championship to our passionate fans."

Roberts was already under contract for next season. The new deal runs through 2022.

"When I was hired to lead this team three years ago, I said at the time that managing the Dodgers is truly the opportunity of a lifetime, and I feel the exact same way today," Roberts said in a statement released by the team. "We've worked hard to develop a team and culture that will put us in position to win the World Series every season, but we still have yet to achieve our ultimate goal and that is what drives me each day.
