A driver was killed today in a single-vehicle accident that closed down the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.

The Ford sedan struck a light pole near the Temple Street exit of the freeway around 12:20 a.m., said California Highway Patrol officer Francisco Villalobos.

The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, Villalobos said. His identity was not immediately released.

Villalobos said it was possible the car struck the freeway center divider before hitting the light pole.
