Family Escapes Silver Lake Garage Fire

The cause of the early morning fire was under investigation.

SILVER LAKE, CA — A fire destroyed a garage in Silver Lake Friday morning, but firefighters were able to stop it before it spread to an adjacent home.

The blaze engulfed the garage of a multi-level home in the 2100 block of West Audrey Place at 1:41 a.m. Friday morning. It spread to a patio, however, firefighters stopped the flames before they could get into the residence, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

A woman and child got out of the home before firefighters arrived, Stewart said.

The 64 responding firefighters put out the flames in 22 minutes, she said.

No injuries were reported.
