Firefighters Battle Stubborn Attic Fire In Echo Park
Firefighters knocked down an attic fire Friday at an Echo Park home.
ECHO PARK, CA — A stubborn attic fire in Echo Park Friday required firefighters to punch holes in the heavily fortified roof to tackle the blaze.
The fire broke out just after 3:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of West Berkeley Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters had to punch holes in the heavily fortified roof to vent the structure, then set up a line to protect a house a few feet away, fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in 26 minutes, she said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
