The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Monday for the 16th time in 17 days, decreasing a half-cent to $4.016.
The average price has fallen 7.9 cents over the past 17 days and is 4.3 cents less than one week ago and 24 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
However, it is 11.8 cents more than one month ago, thanks in part to a 13-day streak of increases immediately before prices began to drop.
