LAPD Releases Details About First Robbery by Silver Lake Reservoir
A man is stopped about 9:20 p.m. on April 29 at Armstrong Avenue and Silver Lake Boulevard.

The Los Angeles Police Department has released more details about the first of the two recent robberies at the Silver Lake Reservoir.
According to a release issued Sunday, it happened on April 29 at 9:20 p.m. near Armstrong Avenue and Silver Lake Boulevard on the east side of the lake.
Two men accosted a jogger, demanding his property, and, when, he refused, one of the men showed him a handgun in his waistband, according to the release.

The man then "surrendered his property" and the alleged robbers jumped into an awaiting car.
As previously reported, a second robbery occurred on May 6 at 8 p.m. on the west side of the Reservoir, at West Silver Lake Drive and Hawick Street.

According to the LAPD , three men tackled another man from behind, taking his headphones.
Craig Collins of the Silver Lake Reservoirs Conservancy details safety measures residents can take in a recent blog for the Patch, including:
- Avoid wearing loud headphones
- Don't look at your phone as you walk or run
- Wear a whistle
Collins also notes the "urgent need for better lighting along the path near the Meadow," not far from where this first mugging occurred:
