PHOTOS: Slash Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

His ceremony marks the addition of the 2,473rd star to the Walk of Fame.

Iconic musician Slash received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday in front of some dedicated fans who had been waiting overnight for the ceremony.

Slash was awarded the 2,473rd star during the star's unveiling in front of the Hard Rock Cafe.His family, actor Charlie Sheen and movie producer Robert Evans were among the VIPs in the audience.

During his speech, Slash recalled spending his middle school years looking at posters of Led Zeppelin in the stores along Hollywood Boulevard.

“I’m such a part of this scenery,” Slash said. “I went to school here, I started playing guitar here. I rehearsed, literally, 100 yards down the street…to be appreciated by the [community] of Hollywood is a huge, huge honor.”

Slash, born Saul Hudson in London moved to Los Angeles with his family at the age of 5. He went on to become the lead guitarist in Guns N' Roses and co-found the group Velvet Revolver in 2002. He also launched a successful solo career, releasing the critically acclaimed album "Apocalyptic Love" just this year.

Actor Charlie Sheen put a spin on his famous catchphrase during his speech in honor of Slash.

“Winning is defined by one word: Slash,” Sheen said to the audience.   

Following the ceremony Slash performed a private acoustic concert at the Hard Rock Cafe with Myles Kennedy.

The first 200 fans in line were given wrist bands to gain access the performance.

Jonathan Chavarria was among the first of enthusiastic fans waiting in line Monday night at 10 p.m. with his brother and several friends to get a wrist bands for the concert.

“I love him,” Chavarria said. “His music, his political views, basically the person he is. He’s not someone that turns down any fan, he’s just for the people.”

Summer Nasmyth, who showed up in front of the star at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning said she has been a lifelong Slash fan.

“My dad has played his music for me since I was born,” Nasmyth said. “I’m such a big fan, I’ve never seen him live and I’m stoked.”
