Police Chase Ends in Echo Park Crash

A stolen SUV hit two vehicles after a short pursuit.

A police chase of a stolen Chevy Blazer ended with the SUV crashing into two vehicles around 3 p.m. Friday, leading to the arrest of the driver and the shutdown of Sunset Boulevard near Echo Park Avenue  to westbound traffic, according to authorities.

The SUV was reported stolen from West Los Angeles, and officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division spotted it near Montana Street, triggering the chase, said Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg of the Northeast Station.

The SUV hit one vehicle, a Chevy Silverado, according to Rosenberg, before the chase ended with a crash into the rear of a white Nissan Sentra in front of the near the corner of Sunset and Echo Park Avenue.

“After that, there was a short foot pursuit, where we apprehended the suspect,” Rosenberg said.  “He had minor injuries.” Rosenberg also added that the driver of the Silverado complained of injuries, was examined and released.
