Update: Police Seek Man Who Tried to Kidnap Girl in NELA

A man with a pockmarked face tried to abduct a 16-year-old girl walking to school in Cypress Park.

Update: Police have issued a composite sketch of a man they are seeking in connection with an attempted kidnapping in Cypress Park Thursday morning.

Officer Daniel Rios of LAPD's Northeast Division said officers are still looking for the suspect in the kidnapping attempt that occurred at around 8 a.m. near Cypress Avenue and Silver Street.

Rios said the suspect was driving an older red work truck at the time. He added that the man was scratched in the face by the 16-year-old girl he attempted to kidnap.

"That should make him more recognizable," Rios said.

Officers said the would-be victim who alerted them to kidnapping was not injured.

"She escaped and she was the one who called police," Rios said.

Los Angeles police are searching for a man who tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl walking to L.A. River High School in the area of Cypress Avenue and Silver Street on Thursday, the Los Angeles Times reported

The attempted kidnapper is described as a 25- to 30-year-old male Latino who is about 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 180 pounds. He is described as having brown eyes and acne or chicken pox scars on his face.
