But they were among the lucky ones because a family friend kept their bustling flower shop busy while they were gone, and it was ready for them when that dark chapter in American history ended, The Eastsider reported.

The Kozawa's closed shop a decade ago, but the community continues to rally around the historic home with high hopes that the new owner will protect it, maybe turning it into another business that lasts for decades as a Silver Lake staple.
