VIDEO: Dodgers Look for Ways to Work with Echo Park Schools

The Los Angeles Dodgers are exploring ways to work with Echo Park schools to help improve academic performance and parent engagement.

"As part of our community efforts we are looking at our community schools and seeing the way we can have the best impact," said Rafael Gonzalez, Director of Community Relations for the Dodgers.

Gonzalez, who grew in the area, appeared at a forum organized Thursday by the Echo Park Improvement Association.

Gonzalez said the Dodgers are still evaluating the best way to be involved, but he noted that partnerships would likely be a big way.

As you can see in the above video recorded after the forum, Gonzalez said Dodger players, employees and alumni might also serve as role models for local students.

Gonzalez mentioned that at least eight local schools could be targetted, including Allesandro Elementary and Elysian Heights Elementary.
