Chevron Refinery May Resume Full Operations Soon

Cal/OSHA is wrapping up its review of the Richmond refinery's repairs and replacements after last August's major fire.

Chevron could resume full operations at its Richmond refinery this month, according to an article in today's Contra Costa Times.

A spokesperson for the California Occupational Safety and Health program (Cal/OSHA) said agency staff members spent this week at the refinery checking whether repairs needed in the wake of last Aug. 6's fire have been competed, the Times reported.

If Cal/OSHA staff are satisfied with Chevron's progress, they could give the refinery permission to resume its previous operating level "within a few days." The refinery has been operating at about 60 percent of capacity.
