An El Cerrito Police Officer is being praised for possibly preventing a sexual assault after making a traffic stop Thursday night.
El Cerrito Police arrested a registered sex offender after he was found in a car with a 16-year-old Antioch girl near a motel on Thursday.
A police officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop at 11:38 p.m. and contacted the driver, a 46-year-old male from Antioch. The officer conducted a records check and learned that the man is on parole for sexual assaults committed against a minor.
