El Cerrito Power Mostly Restored

The East Bay is the hardest hit area for power outages as a storm tore through the Bay Area, according to PG&E.

EL CERRITO, CA — Thousands of people in and around El Cerrito were without power early Wednesday morning, a PG&E outage map shows.

One outage that left more than 1400 customers in the cold and dark was fixed just before 8 a.m., PG&E said in an email. The company said the outage "was caused by the weather" but did not elaborate.

Across the Bay Area, more than 36,000 customers were without power at 4:30 a.m. By 6:30, the number had been cut to 27,000.

The largest outages were in the East Bay, where more than 16,000 customers were affected at one time.
