El Cerrito Schools Will Not Be Demolished in WCCUSD Facility Plan

Reconstructing 19 critically aged school campuses with the remaining $1.6 billion bond was made a top priority by the trustees last week.

EL CERRITO, CA- Reconstructing 19 critically aged school campuses with the remaining $1.6 billion bond was made a top priority at the West Contra Costa school district board meeting, according to East Bay Times.

East Bay Times reports that the Facilities Master Plan was adopted Wednesday, and will take aim the dilapidated critical repairs with the $175 million that is left of the funds, prioritizing seismic, fire, health and safety needs, emphasizing "functionality over aesthetics."

The board reportedly decided to keep El Cerrito’s Cameron School and Fairmont Elementary campuses, rather than demolish and relocate them to larger sites in San Pablo and Fairmont.
