Fatal Crash Temporarily Closes On San Tomas Expressway

A single-vehicle crash involving a 23-year-old man on a motorcycle closed the San Tomas Expressway near Pruneridge on Thursday.

SANTA CLARA, CA — Police said Saturday morning that a single-vehicle crash involving a 23-year-old man on a motorcycle had led them to close San Tomas Expressway near Pruneridge Avenue on Thursday just after the peak of the evening rush hour.

An investigation revealed that speed may have been a factor when the motorcyclist, traveling north on the thoroughfare, hit the center median, Santa Clara Police Department said in a statement.

The man, whom police did not identify, was taken to a nearby hospital and later succumbed to his injuries from the crash, police said.
