Firefighters Knock Down Small Brush Fire In Richmond

The blaze scorched 4.5 acres, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

RICHMOND, CA —A small vegetation fire Sunday night burned about 4.5 acres near the Parchester Village neighborhood and the Point Pinole Regional Shoreline Park, and delayed passage of at least one Amtrak train on nearby tracks, the Richmond Fire Department said.

The fire was reported about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, said Battalion Chief Noah Brownlow. A total of 37 firefighters fought the fire, which was completely out by about 9 p.m., Brownlow said. No one was injured, an no structures were damaged. The cause of the fire had not been established by Sunday night.

An Amtrak train from Oakland to Bakersfield was held for a while at Richmond while the fire was being battled near the tracks.
