Kensington Police Offer Identity Theft Brochure

Kenginston Police Department recently released an identity theft brochure to aid residents in preventing becoming victim to this growing crime or assist those who may have been victimized.

From a name and address to a date of birth and social security number, pieces of personal information are targetted by these identity thieves to impersonate an individual and obtain his or her money, goods or services.

Tips such as shredding pre-approved credit applications, credit card receipts, bills and other financial information are given along with key numbers to credit reporting companies.

The brochure even provides a sample form letter to notift credit collection agencies if one has been victimized by an identity thief.
