Life Of One 'Rosie The Riveter' To Be Celebrated

RICHMOND, CA — The life of a Rosie the Riveter will be celebrated Friday in Richmond, city officials said.

The life of Mary "Peace" Head will be celebrated with a plaque, bench and memorial garden dedication starting at 2 p.m. at Parchester Park at 900 Williams Drive.

Head was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II, working in the Richmond Shipyards building Liberty ships. She earned her nickname “Peace”for holding a “Peace Prayer."

Mary was a go-getter her entire life. She earned her high school diploma at the age of 78. She became licensed in holistic medicine and reflexology.

Mary died in 2017 at the age of 94.
