Metallica Honored By El Cerrito Mayor After Record Day 2016

Anyone spot the former local band while they were in El Cerrito last week? We have video.

EL CERRITO, CA- More than 30-years after their humble beginnings as a Bay Area house band, Metallica returned to town after a Record Day 2016 celebration and some received some kind words from the Mayor of El Cerrito.

The Inquisitr reports that the band played at Rasputin’s in San Francisco on April 16 as part of an effort to support independent record stores around the world. Once they finished their set, Metallica and their close friends reportedly headed to El Cerrito to hang out.

While in town, the guys were honored by Mayor Greg Lyman as a “cultural institution.” The group explained what an inspiration it was living at 3132 Carlson Blvd. in El Cerrito from 1983 to 1986, where they wrote the material found on Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, reports Ultimate Classic Rock.
