Wilson Elementary School in Richmond may soon be called Michelle Obama Elementary.
The West Contra Costa Unified School District is considering the change, at the request of students and parents at the school, who want to honor the former First Lady of the United States.

An ad hoc board committee will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday to consider the request and to hear input from community members and other stakeholders. The meeting will be held at Grant Elementary School, 2400 Downer Ave. in Richmond, 94804.
The committee will meet a second time on Thursday, Jan. 23.
