'Now Hiring' Sign at El Cerrito Chipotle

Not that we had any doubt, but the signs that Chipotle really is going to open in El Cerrito seem unmistakable.

It was last April that the restaurant chain won Planning Commission approval, but the space occupied by the former Payless ShoeSource on San Pablo Avenue across from El Cerrito Plaza didn't show immediate signs of a new occupant.

A Patch visit to the site Monday found clear evidence of the coming opening with "Chipotle Mexican Grill" prominently affixed in large signs on the front and side of the building and a "Now Hiring" sign in the window.
