Should El Cerrito's Surveillance Systems Ordinance Include Outside Cameras?
The city's ordinance requires certain businesses to have indoor security cameras. However, after the recent Boston Marathon bombings, do you think that ordinance should also apply to outside cameras?

Among all Bay Area cities, El Cerrito is the only one to have an ordinance requiring certain businesses to have indoor security cameras, according to a recent report by ABC 7.
The law, passed in 2007, requires that cameras be installed in businesses most likely to become the targets of criminals. The City even offered loans to merchants to help them buy the cameras. It was passed by the City after two high-profile robberies resulted in murders, ABC 7 reports.
One of those murders occurred at the Red Onion Restaurant where owner Silvia Figueroa witnessed her husband being shot to death by the robber.

At the time, the restaurant had no security cameras, which could have helped police identify the killer, ABC 7 reports. Today, the business has four cameras installed.
