Missing Teen Shabnam Ahmadyar's Body Found in River

Divers discovered the body in the Sacramento River Monday evening, near where clothing belonging to Ahmadyar was found last week.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has identified a body found in the Sacramento River Monday evening as that of , the mentally-ill 15-year-old who went missing from her Elk Grove home Friday.

Divers from the Sacramento Diving and Accident Rescue Team discovered the body of a female matching Ahmadyar's description submerged in the water 10 to 15 feet away from the dock where her clothes , near the 10900 block of River Road, police said.

They said family members have been notified, and the coroner will perform an autopsy on the body to determine the cause of death. Police have previously said there were no signs of foul play in Ahmadyar's disappearance.

Ahmadyar, who police say suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, left her home at about 4:30 Friday, setting off a frantic three-day search. Police found security footage indicating Ahmadyar had visited a store in Franklin before apparently making her way to the boat dock.
