DOMA Struck Down: Elk Grove Reacts

Reactions flooded social media as Californians responded to news that the U.S. Supreme Court struck down DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, in a 5-4 vote in a decision Wednesday morning. 

The act had prohibited the U.S. government from recognizing same-sex marriage. 

When we asked Elk Grove Facebook followers if the court got it right, we heard a mix of reactions. Here are a few of the responses:

"Absolutely! All tax paying citizens deserve the same rights!"

"Absolutely not."

"Ok do what about common law couples can they now get the same rights?"
