Drug Disguised as Candy Confiscated From Middle Schooler, Officials Say

An Amador County junior high student reportedly caught sniffing a methamphetamine pill disguised as candy.

IONE, CA- A methamphetamine pill disguised as candy was confiscated from a middle school student in Amador County this week, according to KCRA news.

KCRA reports that a school employee witnessed an Ione Junior High School student sniffing a pill during lunch break on Monday. When approached, the student reportedly said the pill was candy, however, the employee confiscated it and turned it over to law enforcement.

When tested, the pill reportedly came back positive for meth.

KCRA reported this from Amador County Unified School District:

"It was scary to see that these drugs are masked as candy and could be passed off to any student as such," school administrators said in the statement. "It is worrisome that it can come in the forms of very popular types of snacks that we see sold daily; even the packaging can be similar."
