Freight Trail Derailment Reported Near Highway 99 in Elk Grove
Fire officials said three people were onboard the train at the time of the derailment.
ELK GROVE, CA — A freight train has derailed near Highway 99 in Elk Grove this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service Sacramento. Cosumnes Fire officials said three people were onboard the train at the time of the derailment but no one was injured.
Officials with the Sacramento County's Office of Emergency Services say the derailment was likely caused by flooding near a local bridge. The incident was reported in the area of southbound 99 and Dillard Road at 12:47 p.m., according to the Pulsepoint phone application.
